SpaceUp
Welcome to SpaceUp Russia
hosted by Skoltech
on 18th May 2019!

What is SpaceUp?
SpaceUp is a worldwide leading space unconference concept. Everyone who attends SpaceUp is encouraged to give a talk, moderate a panel, or start a discussion. The participants are free to talk on any space-related topic from any discipline like astrophysics, cosmology, engineering, biochemistry, human physiology, psychology, business, law, policy, arts, culture, fiction, etc. It is a great way to meet new people and exchange new ideas.
How it works
There are no spectators at SpaceUp, only participants. All attendees are expected to give a demo, present a talk, or participate in a panel or roundtable. It's not as scary as it might sound, though. Sessions at SpaceUp are conversations, just like every conversation you've had (or wanted to have) at any other conference. The only difference is that the sessions are planned on the spot, which means we're sure to be talking about topics we find interesting.
registration
On-site registration works a lot like any other conference; you'll pick up your badge, schedule, and maybe some goodies at the front desk.
T-5
T-5 talks are ignite-format talks. Participants give a presentation with slides, this is the format for you: each speaker gets 5 minutes to talk, with maximum 10 slides. (scheduled beforehand)
T-X
X (10-15) minutes sessions that can take the form of a talk, a Q&A, or a project demo (scheduled beforehand).
2019 theme:
SPACE beyond SPACE
Talks will be focused on commercial space and the impact of space applications on daily lives: GPS, Weather forecasting, telecom, etc. This topic is apt as per the current New Space 4.0, where the space industry is no more defined to government agency/administration. Emerging private players such as SpaceX, Blue Origin, Space IL, Virgin Galactic, OHB Systems, Bellatrix, Rocket Lab (many more) are on the list to give a competing space market for the future. Since the Soviet Era, it is evident that space is not a single man's journey and includes all-round technology. But today, it is beyond engineering, expanding its horizon to space mining, space banking, space advertisement, space traffic management, space art, and counting!
