The program focuses on developing the Engineering Systems students' critical skills, understanding, and mastery to lead and shape up the digital transformation of industries and the development of cyber-physical systems, aerospace, and high technology industrial products in all fields on Earth and in Space. The program's main objective is to educate students with the competencies and digital know-how that will enable them to support and play leading roles in the real-life implementation of digital engineering, robotics, space technologies, and science. We teach students to find creative and sustainable solutions to the critical challenges that a wide range of industries including but not limited to aerospace, energy, and robotics.

The Digital Engineering and Product Development track focuses on technologies and methodologies for the development of products and systems which are critical for the development of our societies. It focuses on Systems Engineering and Product Development, and how to efficiently use and adapt digital technologies to create and analyze the competitiveness of products and systems for our modern society; it also includes the Principles of Manufacturing micro-master program as an option. This theme offers a Design, Systems Thinking, Digital Twin and Concurrent Engineering research using a comprehensive set of Digital Industrial Software Systems (DISS), up to production ramp-up (Digital Manufacturing Systems).
The Robotics and VR track offers a series of courses in Advanced Robotics (UAV, Swarm of drones, Aerial manipulation, Mobile, Industrial, and Collaborative robots, Embedded systems and Intelligent sensors), Perception in Robotics (SLAM, Path planning, Navigation), A.I. for Robotics (application of DL and ML in Robotics), VR and Haptics (Haptic displays, VR/AR-based teleoperation, Digital Twins). Students will not only carry-out research on autonomous delivery robot HermesBot, collaborative robots UR, quadruped robot HyperDog, a swarm of drones with tactile feedback SwarmTouch, but also develop their own robotic and VR solutions. During the master thesis research, there will be the opportunity to collaborate with Professors from MIT, TUM, DLR, UEC, INRIA, CMU and visit their Laboratories. Students of the track will also be able to write and publish scientific articles at the top conferences in Robotics and VR, such as: ICRA, IROS, HRI, ICUAS, Siggraph, CHI, Haptics Symposium, etc.
The Space track will prepare specialists capable of conceiving and designing space missions and leading design teams for the development of space systems and other complex engineering systems (Systems Engineering, Spacecraft and Mission Design), as well as specialists capable of extracting useful knowledge from space-generated data, estimation and forecasting for the development of space-oriented services and applications (Experimental Data Analysis, Fundamentals of Remote Sensing, Satellite Navigation, Space Weather). The track offers a research in developing advanced methods and platforms for exploration of space and remote sensing data analysis, novel applications of swarm technologies for autonomous operations of large constellations, studying the physics of the Sun and space weather, and developing forest and land data to model carbon sequestration capabilities of regions in Russia and contribute to the Environmental Sustainable Goals reporting of export oriented companies.

The 2-year program comprises of compulsory and recommended elective courses on the most important topics, a wide set of elective courses (depending on the research and professional needs of the student), components of entrepreneurship and innovation, research activity and 8 weeks of industry immersion.

final stage
The final selection stage takes place in Moscow. You have to pass the English exam on site, or present a valid proof of English proficiency, pass an in-person interview and entrepreneurship challenge. Extra written examinations may be required for certain programs during this time (you will be notified in advance). In case you're not from Moscow, we can accommodate you in the Skoltech dorms for the selection weekend period.
