Over the last decade, the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm and next generation wireless technologies (5G, 6G) have captured the minds of researchers and engineers. Now it is one of the most promising fields of the Industry 4.0 with the market value of more than $100 bln and stable annual growth.


Skoltech, ranked among the Top-100 Nature Index 2019 and 2021 Young Universities, offers the master's program in the Internet of Things and Wireless Technologies, which is truly multidisciplinary and highly vocational. In addition to the lecture-based study, the program includes summer industrial placement and lab classes. Our faculty is deeply involved in research, while students benefit from their expert knowledge and the university's cutting-edge research facilities.

Cutting-edge industrial & technology experience
The majority of student projects are performed in collaboration with industry partners. The best students are entitled to academic mobility internships of up to 6 months. Moreover, all the courses are taught in English.

Program graduates work in the private and public sectors in telecommunications, software engineering, IT departments of industrial companies, banking, medicine, agriculture, etc. As an alternative, graduates can embark on PhD.

devising solutions for industrial cases (production, healthcare, agriculture, etc.) using wireless and IoT
2 years of master's studies are equivalent to 120 ECTS credits. They are awarded for the courses taken, but also for research work, disciplines in entrepreneurship and innovation, and an internship in the industry.

A key component of your studies is independent research work at world–class laboratories. The following research areas are available for you:
  • Advanced wireless technology perspective studies for 5GA/6G

  • Machine learning in communications
  • Signal processing for communications
  • Sensing and actuation in environmental/industrial/biomedical applications

Labs
Every program dedicates time for students' independent research as a core part of their curriculum. Skoltech hosts over 40 world-class laboratories. Students have full access to the facilities throughout their studies and can conduct research based on their interests.

Applications for competitive selection can be submitted online. The bigger part of the selection process is conducted online, and only the final stage takes place offline at the Skoltech campus

Final stage
The final selection takes place in Moscow. You have to pass an English exam on site or present valid proof of English proficiency, and take an in-person interview and entrepreneurship challenge. Extra written examinations may be required for certain programs during this time (you will be notified in advance). In case you're not from Moscow, we can accommodate you in the Skoltech dorms for the selection weekend period.

Enrollment
You will be enrolled in Skoltech based on the results of all competitive selection procedures.
Entry requirements
Knowledge, skills and educational background sufficient for successful enrollment
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics or Mathematics.
Knowledge and skills
Math: calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, probability theory and mathematical statistics, discrete mathematics

Programming: C/C++, MATLAB, Python
English language
If your education has not been conducted in English, you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency.
