about the program
The Skoltech Next Generation Communication Technologies program’s main objective is to educate the new generation of STEM leaders, who are ready to design and deliver next-generation communication technologies to the industry.

Next-generation wireless technologies (5G and 6G) are the basis of the information infrastructure of the modern world. Such networks become extremely complex and heterogeneous and involve the use of highly distributed artificial intelligence (AI), in which intelligence will move from centralized clouds to edge computing resources that are included in every network end device. Designing such networks requires multidisciplinary skills. The program develops a deep understanding of key disciplines including communications, digital signal processing, linear algebra, probability theory, information theory, optimization, AI algorithms, distributed computing.

2 years of master's studies are equivalent to 120 ECTS credits. They are awarded for the courses taken, but also for research work, disciplines in entrepreneurship and innovation, and an internship in the industry.

Before finishing my BSc degree at the Faculty of Physics at SFedU, I started thinking about the next step in my education. I set my sights on Russia's leading universities, including Skoltech. A year of intensive preparation paid off — I was accepted into the master's program "Internet of Things and Wireless Technologies." Skoltech attracted me not only with its English-language instruction but also with its focus on practical project work closely aligned with real industry challenges. The first year turned out to be a significant challenge. The level of the courses was much higher than anything I had faced before. At times, it felt like I was drowning in the sheer volume of new knowledge and assignments. However, over time, I fully adapted to the rhythm of the studies. The educational program at Skoltech impressed me with its flexibility. For instance, I could decide which subjects to study in the first year and which to leave for the second. Additionally, the program offered specialized courses, such as digital signal processing and the application of machine learning approaches in wireless communications. Entrepreneurship courses held a special place, providing the opportunity to view technology from a commercial perspective and adequately assess the practicality and feasibility of a development. All Skoltech courses incorporated elements aimed at developing both soft skills, such as presenting ideas and public speaking, and hard skills specific to each field. After graduating from MIREA and working at the Skolkovo Technopark for a year, I turned my attention to Skoltech. I was attracted to studying in English, the credit system, and excellent labs. In my opinion, it was an unusual place to pursue a master's degree. When I started studying, it was difficult for me to delve into a new field and improve my knowledge in mathematics, programming, and other areas. However, over time, I managed to get used to English, the level of teaching, and the high workload. The level of knowledge gradually began to rise and it became easier. It is very interesting to see a clear difference in perception between my second year of the master's degree and the first. I was also pleasantly surprised by the mentoring program where alumni who graduated 3-4 years ago help current students. I managed to communicate with those who are now successfully working in leading universities and companies around the world and get valuable career advice from them. Skoltech has become for me not only a place of study but also an opportunity to create a startup (4parking — recognition of free parking spaces using computer vision), write scientific articles, present my work at a European conference, and become a mentor for a new generation of students at the Innovation Workshop. Registration
Choose the language of the selection process. If you select the Russian path and successfully pass the selection, you will be required to attend a one-month English bootcamp with a covered tuition fee before your program begins. Note that you can only choose a Russian path if your English proficiency level is at least B1 according to CEFR. If you choose the English path, you must either pass an English exam on-site or present valid proof of English proficiency. You will also earn additional points for choosing an English path.

Final stage
The final selection will take place in Moscow. You will need to pass an in-person interview and an entrepreneurship challenge. Please note that extra written examinations may be required for certain programs during this time, and you will be notified in advance if this applies to you.
