The Skoltech Advanced Manufacturing Technologies program is aimed to prepare the next generation of researchers, engineers, and practitioners to assume a role of technical leadership in research and innovation in the high-tech sector with a particular focus on Advanced Materials and novel Digital Engineering technologies. As a part of the program students study state-of-the-art technologies in the areas of advanced composite materials, additive manufacturing, thermal spray coatings, and novel information technologies for simulation-driven product development, digital prototyping, detailed understanding and analysis of engineering/physical systems, processes, advanced materials and technological processes.

have fundamental knowledge in mechanics and physics of composite materials, additive manufacturing and thermal spray coatings

acquire vast hands-on experience in handling cutting-edge equipment

gain deep understanding of modern technological methods and tools, IT-based manufacturing and product development practices

are able to apply their knowledge of mathematical methods, mechanics, physics and materials science in advanced manufacturing and materials research, engineering, and applications

have fundamental knowledge in multi-scale and multi-physics computational modeling of physical systems and technological processes, numerical methods, and high performance computer simulations

are able to apply methods of mathematical modeling and simulation-based engineering in the analysis of real processes and objects in order to find effective solutions to general scientific and applied problems

The 2-year program comprises of compulsory and recommended elective courses on the most important topics, a wide set of elective courses (depending on the research and professional needs of the student), components of entrepreneurship and innovation, research activity and 8 weeks of industry immersion.

A significant fact about my study program is that all of our courses are very practical and help to develop essential skills for engineers. At the beginning of the academic year, we had an Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing Technologies course, during which our group had a chance to apply our theoretical knowledge in practice. We managed to make a composite material using various techniques during laboratory work with our own hands. Usually, I spend almost my day at Skoltech, working on the projects, assignments and also spending my free time communicating with other Skoltech students.

All my aspirations, hobbies, and interests led me to an overwhelming desire to enter Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Master's program after my Bachelor's degree. At Skoltech you can become both the witness and participant in the process of merging digital technologies, materials science, and process modeling. The knowledge obtained in the AMT laboratories and in Data Science courses helped me implement a monitoring system in the advanced metal 3D printing process during my summer internship, and then very quickly adapt to tasks from other areas. The education I received at Skoltech allowed me to participate in the design of the ballistic mission and the control system of the launch vehicle. Many thanks to Skoltech, which allowed me not only to form in my head a system of knowledge and skills necessary for further professional activity but also to obtain valuable life experience.

In Advanced Manufacturing Technologies I really enjoyed the class-based projects around technological problems. During the two years of my Advanced Manufacturing Master's program I participated in innovative and research projects, and gained knowledge in the new field of digital twin design. In addition to courses and practical seminars on campus, students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills during summer industrial internship. And also you can collaborate with almost any university in the world. For example, I did a series of experiments at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

Advanced Manufacturing Technologies MSc program accumulates the world's latest knowledge in design, testing and manufacturing that allows you to learn how to build anything! And what is more important - you can implement this knowledge alongside your studies. Within AMT program, we participated in several projects: manufacturing of composite materials, digital design of a stratospheric satellite, design and launch of tube-deployed UAV. In my opinion, if you want to build something impressive, AMT is a great way to learn how to do it properly.

After completing my Bachelor's degree, I've decided to continue my studies in the Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (AMT) program because of my friend's suggestion. One of the positive points was the dense immersion in modern manufacturing and product technologies. We tried various composite manufacturing and 3D printing technologies, designed and manufactured a UAV from scratch. AMT provides access not only to the most prominent manufacturing technologies but also to modern engineering digital toolset. Besides, I liked the inspiring atmosphere and novelty-oriented people with different backgrounds and views on the same problem. It seems to me that my friend suggested me a great place for MSc!

Every candidate must take an online subject test. You will be notified via email about the specific date and time of your test.

final stage

The final selection will take place in Moscow. You can choose to take your exams in either English or Russian. If you select the Russian option and successfully pass the selection, you will be required to attend a free one-month English bootcamp in August before your program begins. Note that you can only choose a Russian option if your English level is at least B1. If you choose the English option, you must either pass an English exam on-site or present valid proof of English proficiency. You will also earn additional points for choosing an English option. Additionally, you will participate in an in-person interview and an entrepreneurship challenge. Please note that extra written examinations may be required for certain programs during this time, and you will be notified in advance if this applies to you. If you are not from Moscow, we can provide accommodation for you in the Skoltech dorms during the selection weekend.
